CACIQUE PLUS SIZE BRAS: A LANE BRYANT REVIEW

So, I made a recent online purchase with Lane Bryant which included two new Cacique bras, a Seriously Sexy lingerie set, a #PlusIsEqual T-shirt and a pair of hematite hoop earrings.

My Box of LB Goodies!!

For this particular post, I am sharing my views on the Cacique bras that I purchased. Look for other purchase reviews coming soon.

Now, this was a much-needed bra purchase that I did not take lightly. Because of my extended 10+ year tenure with shopping Lane Bryant and Avenue, both in-store and online, for plus size clothing and especially my DDD plus size bras, I was naturally drawn to make a choice between these two top plus size boutiques!

I have to tell you these two brands have become my go-to shops over the years for all of my bra purchases; so far neither have let me down for quality, affordability, and long-lasting wear except for an occasional under-wire poking through the fabric after a number of wears & washes.

Lane Bryant Wins Out!!

So, Lane Bryant won out this time simply because of their pattern styles (Animal Print & Vintage Lace) and the fact that I also wanted to purchase the #PlusIsEqual T-shirt which was on sale for $5 – desiring to only make one purchase so as to save on shipping cost…

Remember, I live in Sint Maarten! So, as you might imagine, shipping can be a purchase in itself to receive packages here!!

Well, although I was a bit shy to do it, I decided to come out of my comfort zone to include a picture here of myself wearing the Animal Print bra so as to benefit you, my readers, by showing visual proof of how fabulous these bras fit and flatter. I love these styles and prints, especially the *Vintage Lace!

Take a good look here…
What do you think? Now, don’t you be shy to give me your honest opinion!

I ordered a size 46DDD, although my last bra from Lane Bryant was a 44DDD which is about 3 years old and mind you, I do still wear (however, I must admit it’s on its last days, hehehe!). I ordered up because I had read a few online reviews that this style ran a bit small. I am glad I did because they fit perfectly hooked in the last clasp.

They have begun to stretch out a bit because after a few wears today I was able to fasten it into the next clasp.

So, now I will share with you the Pros and Cons of these particular Cacique plus size bras:

Pros…

I will tell you that I was not surprised in the quality of these bras because as I said above, I have come to rely on Lane Bryant for quality bra purchases. The difference in these and past bras that I had purchased from LB was the style, fit and no extra padding. I liked the idea of no extra padding…I mean, hey come on let’s be real…
Does a gal with DDD cups really need extra padding??

In the product description (see detailed below) it mentions that feature as a benefit that allows for your own natural shaping and recommended for us gals with full busts. I rather like how these bras hold the girls up…they do have underwire!

Our lightest bra ever, the French full coverage bra showcases your natural curves beautifully with lightly-lined, seamless underwire cups. Recommended for women with full busts who want a supportive fit without excess padding, this beautiful bra is so light you may forget it’s there! Adjustable straps and back closure. Available in beautiful fashion colors and prints with contrasting satiny trim.

.

I noticed one of the online reviewers stated that she felt it visually minimized her bust even though there is no mention of these bras doing so. I also found that to be true. The old LB bra that I mentioned above appears to push the girls way out on Front Street as compared to these bras.

Now, as I said before…I really dig the prints of these bras – Can you tell I’m a leopard-print fan?? I’m sorry I am just not a fan of Plain Jane or solid color bras; this ole gal still needs pizzazz!

I’m kind of saucy for an older gal and don’t mind admitting it…hehehe. What about ya’ll??

But, seriously though, these are beautiful looking bras, don’t you think??…when I opened my package and saw them still in their plastic covering…

I was very happy with the vibrant prints and colors! I mean to tell you that the website photos apparently do not do them enough justice…I was not disappointed, to say the least.

My next thought was ‘I can’t wait to try them on; I really hope they fit well’!

So, my first time trying them on was a bit intimidating because they were quite snug in the band, but after adjusting my boobs and the bra properly in position; I was all set!! Perfect fit 😉

Final Major Pro from your Frugalistic Fashion Queen…
See the original price tags here!!
See the original price tags here!!

I caught these babies on a serious sale!! Let me tell you… the original price tag for these fabulous steals was $46 each and they were advertised for a special discounted price of $19.99 each on the website.

Oh course, you know me (hehehe!), I found another discount code that afforded me 40% off of my entire order which decreased the price of each bra to a very low $10 and change…Can you believe that?? I could hardly myself…

I mean who would’ve thought you could EVER get an LB Cacique bra for this unbelievable low price!!?? Nope! Not even ME!

Cons…

There is one major con that I just have to mention: The underwire tends to cause some discomfort underneath the boobs. The wire is quite hard and wide and on me it rubs a bit. Honestly, I had never had this problem before with a new bra. I’m wondering if it has to do with the ‘no extra padding’ feature…Hmmm

My solution…

It may sound odd, but it has worked for me so far. I peeled the backs of two panty liners and placed them strategically around the bottom of each cup; adding just enough padding to keep the wire from digging into my skin.

Now, I had originally intended to order the WICK’EM MOISTURE WICKING BRA LINER that LB sells; it had great reviews and I plan to order it with my next purchase. Many reviewers claimed that it not only helped soak up the moisture us big-busted women tend to get underneath our boobs, but it also helped with the underwire discomfort as well.

So, when you make your bra purchases from LB, I would recommend you purchase one or more of those nifty Bra Liners especially if you tend to have either or both of the fore-mentioned problems.

Conclusion…

Honestly, so far this is the only Con I have experience with these bras. With that being said, it could possibly be a deal-breaker for some and had I not found a temporary solution it would have been a problem for me. I would say that this may only be a temporary issue that works itself out after a while with a little wear, but only time will be able to tell as I’ve only had them for just under a month.

Even with this major Con, I really love these bras! The Pros of overall fit, style and quality far outweighs this Con for me, especially since I was able to overcome it so far.

My Rating: ****

I would have given them 5 stars, but felt I had to take away one star for the ‘hard wire’ issue.

So, if you are in the market for quality and affordable plus size bras I’d say give Lane Bryant a try!! Now, even if these particular styles didn’t swoon you; you should still check out LB’s hundreds of other styles and prints, ranging in price from approx. $20 up to around $60…

Trust me when I say, ‘You are sure to find some you just can’t live without’!!
