Hey #CDF Friends!

Sorry, I’m just a little late on getting this one out, but as I always say…

Better late than Never… Right??

So, hope you all have having a fabulous 1st month of the New Year so far. It has been great on my end so far, done a little bit of traveling and a lot of relaxation, preparing for a busy remaining month starting next week.
Yep, online classes start back and I’ll also be training for my new part time job as a Foster Grant Service Rep./Merchandiser for St. Maarten! Exciting, can’t wait to get started with that…Oh course, I’ll be sharing pics of the great new FG shade styles with ya’ll!!

So, anyhoots, Let’s get to the topic at hand and explore December’s Top Plus Size News list>>>

Top 5 Plus Size Stories from December 2015

  1. Singer Beth Ditto Launching New Plus Size Label

Exciting Plus Size News!! Reportedly, Beth Ditto is launching her own Plus-Size Label this February!  She has teamed up with her friend and famous designer, Jean Paul Gaultier, on a limited edition T-shirt. See front and back here>>>

    Ditto says of Gaultier:

“Jean Paul is the most generous, positive person, he truly loves women of all sizes and ages and knows how to make everyone feel gorgeous, I love that this shirt is funny and chic at the same time, like all the best people!”

Although Ditto has worked with others on brands, this will be the first launching of her own label!

Wanna know what to expect?? She hints that the label will be inspired by her love of vintage and vibrant prints which will include silks, rayons, and embroidery which she believes most plus-size labels are excluding.

    2. Target Features Plus-Size Bodies in New Swimwear Catalog

I’m sure you’ll all remember the controversy that loomed overhead for Target when a fellow Plus Size Blogger took them on concerning their lack of Plus Size brands, etc. and then this summer with their Dion Lee for Target Collection Campaign where they were took to task for using “anorexic-looking models by a Change.org petition suggesting that Target’s ad was irresponsible and could “hound teenagers and women of all ages into life-threatening anorexia” …

Well, it seems that Target has paid attention and has stepped up their game where their Plus Size clientele are concerned! They were praised for using models of diverse ages and sizes in their new swimwear catalog in early December. Take a look here at some of the Ad photos…

3. Controversial #AskLaneBryant Twitter Chat Customer Feedback

Early December, Lane Bryant teamed with host Refinery29 for a #AskLaneBryant Twitter chat with customers which “unleashed a tidal wave of angry comments and tough questions…” Author Charles Manning wrote in an article on Cosmopolitan.

Interesting enough…At the very least, many ‘so-called customers” (my take) accused Lane Bryant of “Fat-Shaming”…which is what the #PlusIsEqual campaign was suppose to help deter away from

One posted the famous billboard picture with their Tweet claiming that these models are not representative of the Brand’s customers. Some advocates of body positivity applauded those who ‘stood up’ to LB, while others felt that LB was unfairly targeted…

What do ya’ll think?* I think if you’ve been following me awhile, you already know which side of the fence I am on…I mean just check out my story on the History of Lane Bryant…this brand was the first to cater to ‘Full Figured gals like You and I!!

And, granted, by the many other customers just like myself that I collab with weekly on Lane Bryant’s FB page, I am amongst a huge crowd of supporters!!

4. Tess Holliday, Rebel Wilson, Ashley Graham & More Plus Size Celebs Fight Back Against Victoria Secret’s Beauty Standards
Tess Holiday Against VS

It should be no secret (pun intended! hehehe) by now that Plus Size Model Tess Holliday has been the most recent and most verbal advocate against the stringent “unrealistic” beauty standards expected and portrayed through Victoria’s Secret (VS) Angels by VS!

Tess follows behind a  list of several famous Plus Size models, actresses & singers who have publically addressed, in one way or another, pressures they feel in society to maintain a certain physique…

However, only a small group of ladies including Tess have spoken out directly against VS for the {Angelic} images the brand portrays.

Here’s what they’ve been saying…

Tess Holiday – “They are perpetuating the image of what’s wrong with America and with society, in general, that you have to look a certain way—like a Victoria’s Secret Angel—to feel beautiful and be sexy.”

Rebel Wilson – “Sometimes girls look at Victoria’s Secret models and think they have to model themselves after that…but I really don’t think that’s the best. We’re all different shapes and sizes and nationalities, and I think that one of the messages… is we’re all beautiful.”

Ashley Graham –  “Victoria’s Secret girls can flaunt their panties all day long. But when there was a bigger woman with a little bit extra, they snipped it out immediately. “If those [Victoria’s Secret] guys are listening, call me!”
