Hello #CDFDivas & #CDFGuys!!

Wouldn’t you agree that this year is moving right along really fast? I cannot believe that we are in the month of April already! Whew!! Speaking of April, this is my birthday month and this year is a special milestone in my life:

Yessss, Can you believe it??!! I will turn a half-century old!! The BIG 50!! Where has all the time gone?? Let me just say that I really do not feel my age (except for some minor aches & pains that seem to switch around depending on the day or time…hehehe).

So, anyway, you may have noticed that I skipped January and February, but not on purpose. As most of you already know, this ole gal is back in school, online that is, and this semester has been no different than the rest in that it has had me super busy writing papers, participating in group projects and reading tons of material.

Don’t get me wrong; I am not complaining as I actually really enjoy the work. It’s just that it keeps me away from the blog more than I would like to be. But, I know you would agree that it is all worth it, especially noting that I am at a 3.85 GPA and I just found out that I am at the top 20% of my class. Whoohoo!! That in itself is reason to celebrate this month, not to even mention my birthday!!  Right?? And, did I tell ya’ll it’s Carnival here in Sint Maarten? No, well it is and festivities galore are happening for you and me to partake in…

Oh, I’d love for any or all of you to visit me here!! Come’ on…what are you waiting for?? Come and celebrate with me!!

Well, I’m guessing you are ready to hear about the Top 5 Plus Size Stories from March!! There have been quite a few wonderful milestones for us Plus Size gals this year already…For instance, I am sure you have heard that our #WCW Ashley Graham has been at the top of the headlines lately for her new spot as the first Plus Size Model of Sports Illustrated and she is just breaking barriers everywhere she goes…Isn’t that wonderful?? Well, I am now going to share some more  recent important strides from other important faces and companies of the Plus Size Fashion Industry with ya’ll NOW>>>

TOP 5 PLUS SIZE STORIES FROM MARCH 2016

  1. ASHLEY STEWART* EXPANDED THEIR SIZE RANGES JUST IN  TIME FOR SPRING!!

    AS Extends Sizes
Image: Ashley Stewart/PLUS Model Magazine’s March 2016 issue (Photographer: Luke Jones)
Yesss, believe it!! In an effort to include even more of us Plus Size Women to their clientele, Ashley Stewart has extended their sizes to 32. This is very refreshing to hear, since we all know that the majority of boutiques, even Plus-Size specialty shops, only provide up to 20, 22, 24 or sometimes 26. Very rarely do you find a shop carrying Plus Size women’s clothes above a 26, which doesn’t make any sense knowing that Plus Size Bodies do not stop at that size!!
So, all of you that have not been able to shop Ashley Stewart before because they did not have your size can now enjoy shopping for those fresh  trendy and sexy plus size outfits that AS has become famous  for over recent years!! Isn’t that exciting??!!
“We listened. Our customers have been asking us for more sizes and we’ve answered with our most sought-after dress styles,” Kristen Gaskins, President and CMO of Ashley Stewart said in the press release for the new range. “The collection will include maxi dresses, jumpsuits, and ready-for-work styles, with plans to extend more categories in the future.” (taken from story at Bustle).

According to Georgina Jones of Bustle, AS has also begun to listen closely to big names in the plus size blogging world by partnering with  Plus Model Magazine, and bringing  in bloggers Alissa Wilson from Stylish Curves, Beck Delude from Manfattan, Tiffany from Lace N’ Leopard, and Megahan O’Conner from Little Lime Dress.

That was a very wise move on this growing Plus Size retailers part! We at Curves Deserve Fashion just happen to be a customer and a marketing affiliate of this popular brand and it’s always great to hear such good news about one of our reputable affiliates that we can pass on to our readers and customers!

*For all my #CDF Weekly Sales Rundown Shoppers:

2. DRESSBARN*: ASHLEY GRAHAM…DRESS DESIGNER??

Introducing BEYOND by Ashley Graham - designer dresses in Misses and Plus Size at dressbarn.com!
YESS, you read it right!! Here she is again this month with a new title to add to her long list of accomplishments and her resume!! WOW, she really is THE Plus Size #WCW of the Year!!

Now we all know that this isn’t Ashley Graham’s first go-round collaborating with designers in the Plus Size Fashion Industry as she has an amazing lingerie line with Addition Elle.   However, this new collaboration is the first one in a full clothing line! Ashley has launched a new ready-to-wear dress collection available at Dressbar by Dressbarn called Beyond by Ashley Graham!!

As another one of our reputable affiliate brands that has long been an advocate of size inclusitivity, Dressbarn certainly proves to be a fabulous shop for Graham’s new line.

Surprisingly, these new dresses are very affordable at  $48 to $66, and includes four different pieces, each  available in straight-size, petite, and plus-size.

*For my #CDF-Weekly Rundown Shoppers:

Enjoy $10 off when you buy two dresses with code DOUBLEUP at dressbarn.com. Ends 5/17 @ 11:59pm EDT.

3. LANE BRYANT*: #THISBODY CAMPAIGN AD REJECTED BY TV NETWORKS!

Yep, since early March Lane Bryant has been fighting back against TV giants, ABC and NBC!!

Although, you and I both know as well as LB that the ad rejection had little to do with “inappropriate attire” or “indecency guidelines” and more to do with the fact that the models used are all Plus Sized, which is only “appropriate” for the Queen of Plus Size Fashion, Lane Bryant.  Shame on them!!

The recent #ThisBody campaign ad features LB plus size models; Tara Lynn, Denise Bidot, Georgia Pratt, Ashley Graham and Precious Lee celebrating their bodies in a #bodypositive way!!

As most of you already know, we absolutely love and support Lane Bryant fully and have been a customer for more than 2 decades. So, it is only fitting that we are also an affiliate of this most reputable Plus Size Fashion Leader!!

*For all my #CDF Weekly Sales Rundown Shoppers:

Enjoy $25 OFF $75, $50 OFF $150, $75 OFF $225 w/ FS with code AFFSPRNGLB!!

4. IMG MODELS LAUNCHES 1ST PLUS SIZE MALE MODEL

YESSS, isn’t it refreshing to see a Plus Size Male Model!! 😉 (And one as handsome as Zach!! ZOWEE!!)

Zach Miko  is making waves and headlines in the Plus Size Fashion Industry as of late.  Now, thanks to IMG, a famous modeling agency, Plus Size Male Models get to also take a  stand  in breaking down stigmas about their weight and FINALLY enter the fashion world! FANATASTIC!! ISN’T THIS  FABULOUS NEWS??!!

Zach is 6 feet 6 inches with a 40-inch waist and has had some  previous modeling experience. According to ATTN, before he secured his gig with IMG Models, Miko appeared on Target’s website as a model for the big and tall line for Mossimo Supply Co. in 2015.

Taylor Bell of ATTN quoted Miko from a recent interview with Buzzfeed, “Being a man of size, I never imagined for a minute that this would be a possible career. The Brawn division is going to open up the fashion world to the every-man. Fashion is ever-changing, but more importantly it is ever-evolving.”  She also reported a quote given to WWD by the President of IMG Models, Ivan Bart: “The body positive messaging and size diversity is something that’s relevant and something that continues to be on everybody’s mind. We have to extend the conversation for me”. He also divulged to WWD that he knows first hand how it feels to struggle with weight and body image and was quoted,” I want every man in America to say, ‘I can do that’ when they see Zach”.

5. GLAMOUR TEAMS WITH LANE BRYANT ON 1ST PLUS SIZE SPECIAL EDITION
GLAMOUR TEAMS WITH LANE BRYANT FOR SPECIAL PLUS SIZE EDITION
@GLAMOUR MAGAZINE

Wow, this is cool!! Has anyone seen this edition as yet? I would love to get my hands on this edition!

Notice our #WCW Ashley Graham is on the front cover!! Yep, she is popping up on many covers these days!! Not everyone is happy and some news outlets have been reporting that Graham is not “Plus Size enough”. Personally, I understand but I think that it is absurd to bash her when she is obviously Plus Size, maybe on the lower end but nonetheless ‘Plus Size’. We need to celebrate all women of all shapes and sizes and stop the nonsense; I am proud that we are finally making strides in places that we have never before. I say let’s be happy for Ashley and support her!!

According to WWD, Glamour and Lane Bryant joined forces to create the special issue, which contains 96 pages of plus-size fashion and is available on newsstands for $12.99 and in select Lane Bryant stores as a gift with purchase.
